A Driver’s Medical Exam is a health assessment used to determine whether an individual is medically fit to drive a motor vehicle safely. It is commonly required for: Commercial drivers (e.g., truck, bus, or taxi drivers)

A Driver’s Medical typically involves:

  • Vision Test

  • Urine Test
  • Physical exam including vitals
  • Reviewing the patient’s medical history

Driver’s Medical Exams – Walk In, 7 Days a Week!

Our physicians perform the medical assessments required by the Ministry of Transportation for drivers applying for commercial licenses (A, B, C, D, E, and F), as well as for G and M license holders who do not meet the peripheral vision standards.
We also complete physical exams for MTO Driver’s Medical Forms. If you require a form for another province or for limo, taxi, or other driving services, we can accommodate those as well—please note that fees may vary depending on the form.
Based on your age, you may be required to submit a Driver’s Medical Form every 1, 3, or 5 years. It is the patient’s responsibility to ensure timely submission before the expiration date.
No appointment necessary—Driver’s Medical Exams are available from 9am to 7pm, 7 days a week. Just walk in!

Driver's Licence Classification Chart

Class A

Allowed to drive any tractor-trailer combination May also drive vehicle in class D and G


Class B

Allowed to drive any school purposes bus may also drive vehicle in class C, D, E, F and G


Class C

Allowed to drive any regular bus May also drive vehicles in class D, F and G.


Class D

Allowed to drive a motor vehicle exceeding 11,000 kilograms gross weight or registered gross weight or any truck or combination provided the towed vehicle is not over 4,600 kilograms. May also drive vehicle in class G.


Class E

Allowed to drive any school purposes bus - maximum of 24-passenger capacity May also drive vehicle in class F and G


Class F

Allowed to drive any regular bus - maximum of 24-passenger capacity - and ambulances May also drive vehicle in class G


Class G

Allowed to drive any car, van or small truck or combination of vehicle and towed vehicle up to 11,000 kilograms, provided the towed vehicle is not over 4,600 kilograms. A pickup truck towing a house trailer exceeds 4,600 kilograms but the total combined weight of the truck and trailer does not exceed 11,000 kilograms is deemed a Class G.

You need a driver’s medical examination every:

  • 5 years for drivers aged 18 to 45
  • 3 years for drivers aged 46 to 64
  • 1 year for drivers aged 65 or older

The cost of a Driver’s Medical is $80. A driver’s medical is done by our licensed physicians who review your medical history, perform vision, hearing, and urine tests, and a physical exam

A Driver’s Medical can typically involve:

  • Reviewing patient’s medical history

Typically, if there are medical conditions that may impair a driver’s ability to drive, ride share companies may require a Driver’s Medical.
